Affixed to the wall is the Lumenspire points board. The centerpiece of the board consists of four tall glass vials, securely mounted beneath each house’s emblem. These vials are filled with sparkling gemstones, each representing the house points awarded to students for good behavior and remarkable deeds, or stripped for errant conduct or mischief. Tucked behind the board is an edition of Wizardry Weekly, a popular newspaper. Staring at the newspaper in apparent disbelief is the Minister of Magic Education, Roderick Dunhampton.
The points board has been updated to reflect the current standings. It looks like your house, House Medela, is in the lead! Nice work!
You take a look at the Wizardry Weekly’s main article. A new headline is prominently displayed in bold, ominous letters at the top of the newspaper. It reads, “Raven the Bloodthirsty Found! “Was here the whole time” says warden.” The image included depicts Raven the Bloodthirsty sitting on the bunk of his cell, reading a book. He casually flips a page while adjusting his reading glasses.
Wizardry Weekly – Special Update
In a shocking turn of events, notorious inmate Raven the Bloodthirsty has been found safe and sound in his cell. Warden Clarissa Thornbrook, visibly relieved, announced the revelation moments ago.
In a remarkable twist, it seems that what was believed to be a daring escape was, in fact, a colossal error on the part of the guards. Following a thorough search of the prison, Raven was discovered quietly reading a book in his cell, seemingly oblivious to the chaos his supposed escape had caused.
Warden Thornbrook, addressing the media, expressed her apologies for the confusion and the turmoil it had caused. “We deeply regret any alarm this incident may have caused within our esteemed community,” she stated. “Our dedicated guards misunderstood the situation, and we are conducting a full internal investigation to prevent such occurrences in the future.
You flip over the newspaper and discover a page with a peculiar-looking crossword:
“Found in his cell? That’s… that’s good! One less thing to worry about! Now, we can focus on the true problem, that evil dark witch Lysandra!”
He turns away from the paper and is startled to find you standing there.
“Eldric’s beard! Are you trying to give me a heart attack?! You can’t be sneaking up on people in a time like this!” (You really weren’t trying to be sneaky.)
“I suppose you’ve heard the news? Yes, we’ve caught that terrible cretin, Raven the Bloodthirsty, and he’s back in his cell where he belongs! Alas, it seems he was only a distraction from the real evil here, Lysandra Bloodthorne and her heinous attack on this academy! Look at what she’s done to Headmaster Levinwood! But fear not, student, I’ve sent a pygmy-dragon back to headquarters to request additional funding. Extra security, the finest supplies, total renovations, there’s no cost too great when it comes to giving Lumenspire everything it needs to defend itself!”
He turns towards the room, as if to address the wandering crowd of witches and wizards directly.
“As it happens, I was just speaking with Yvette Fairfalls before the initial attack. I believe there was a request for additional materials for her classes? Consider it done!”
