POINTS BOARD

Affixed to the wall is the Lumenspire points board. The centerpiece of the board consists of four tall glass vials, securely mounted beneath each house’s emblem. These vials are filled with sparkling gemstones, each representing the house points awarded to students for good behavior and remarkable deeds, or stripped for errant conduct, mischief, or plain ineptitude in magic. Tucked behind the board is an edition of Wizardry Weekly, a popular newspaper. Scrutinizing the board and house points is Cressida Drakanov, an imposing Bellator student.

All houses start the year with 10 gemstones in good faith. Somehow though, it seems that Erudia has already lost 3 points?! How? Hm. Nothing really to worry about though, there’s still the whole school year to show everyone else which House is the most astute.

As it stands, the points are as follows:
Bellator – 13 points (really?)
Medela – 10 points (that tracks)
Erudia – 7 points (very odd)
Viator – 16 points (could they be cheating?)

Though you probably won’t get away with it, you can attempt add or remove gemstones here:

You take a look at the Wizardry Weekly’s main article. The headline is prominently displayed in bold, ominous letters at the top of the newspaper. It reads, “Raven the Bloodthirsty Escapes!” The image beneath depicts Raven the Bloodthirsty, his face contorted as he laughs maniacally with his hands gripping the bars of a prison cell. The convict’s eyes shift to yours, and his laughter appears to echo softly from the image.

In a daring and mystifying turn of events, the notorious convict Raven the Bloodthirsty has escaped from a high-security magical prison, sending shockwaves through the wizarding world. With his malevolent reputation preceding him, authorities have launched an urgent manhunt to recapture the dangerous fugitive. Raven, known for his dark magic and penchant for chaos, had been imprisoned for a series of heinous crimes against the magical community. His escape has raised concerns about the safety of both wizards and witches across the realm.

The Minister of Magic Education, Roderick Dunhampton, expressed grave concern, urging all members of the magical community to remain vigilant. The Ministry has pledged additional resources and personnel to aid in Raven’s capture. Students at Lumenspire Academy are advised to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity immediately. The Lumenspire community remains on high alert as the search for Raven the Bloodthirsty intensifies, reminding us all of the need for unity and preparedness in these uncertain times.

The Wizardly Weekly will continue to provide updates on this developing story. Stay tuned for the latest news and stay safe, fellow wizards and witches.

Cressida Drakanov is a formidable presence at Lumenspire Academy, known for her aristocratic background and unwavering confidence. Hailing from a powerful pure-blood wizarding family, the Drakanovs, she carries herself with an air of entitlement. Cressida’s striking appearance matches her aura of privilege. Her silky black hair is always kept meticulously tied up in a sophisticated bun, leaving a few stylish tendrils to frame her face. As impeccably dressed as always, she is the epitome of fashion and elegance. She glances at you with an air of disdain.

“Did you have something to do with this?”
She crosses her arms and shakes her head, displeased.

“The board says Bellator only has 13 points. I personally earned nine points earlier at the sorting ceremony, and we should have had 10 to begin with, meaning we should have at least 19! Is this stupid thing broken? I guess we’re still better off than your house. You essentially have negative gems at this point!

You’re new here, right? How competitive was your old academy? Lumenspire is super competitive.”

Cressida eyes you up and down, sizing up your magical skills. You raise your eyebrows, skeptical as to her methods of determining magical worth.

“You want to know about Oliver? You’re just like all the others, fawning over the so called “chosen one”. Oh, what happened to him? Right, the Slumberweave spell. I was in the hall when I heard the commotion. You know, if Oliver is such a special wizard, how could he fall prey to such an amateur spell? He’s clearly all hype, and I certainly don’t believe that outlandish story about his parents. Leopold better not give his house, Viator, any extraneous points for this…”

“Raven the Bloodthirsty? He was falsely accused and falsely imprisoned and I’ll speak no more of it. If you knew what I knew, you wouldn’t go around spouting out such nonsensical rumors. Lysandra, however… I hope she really has returned! Wouldn’t that be exciting?! And a perfect opportunity to prove that I’m the greatest witch around. Just imagine how many house points I’d get for defeating Lysandra! If it is her, she probably had help from that dirty groundskeeper, Mossbrook. They are related, after all. Didn’t you know? Now shoo, you’re distracting me.”
