There’s the stick figure of a girl you assume is Elsie, in a green dress, but she’s no longer holding hands with Virgil. In fact, the three figures seem to have moved away from each other across the page somehow. Three, because the figure of Charles McDermott has disappeared. More startling than any of that, are the garish red sad faces scrawled on the remaining three McDermotts.
