ANTIQUE PHONE

You repress a whistle of appreciation. You can certainly spot a good antique, and you’ve known people to pay a pretty penny for one like this. A “candlestick phone”, you remember one interested party calling one of these. This one is in mint condition. You can’t help wondering if you could slip this thing out when you go. Your gaze follows the phone’s cord up to a box on the wall. Those bells on the top must be the “ringer”. You glance back down at the device, wondering how hard it would be to disconnect, and even start to reach for it, when the bells on the box ring! Your heart is in your throat as your hand hovers over the earpiece.
