Several magical artifacts are in display cases beneath a sign that states, “The Mysteries of the Arcane: A Collection of Rare and Powerful Artifacts”. One of the display cases has been smashed open. Someone must have done this during the darkness spell earlier.
The case has been smashed open, and shattered glass lies scattered around. Inside, the Djinn’s Lamp lies broken on a small pedestal.
A plaque beneath it reads, “DJINN’S LAMP – Contains within it the power to grant three wishes.” No other artifacts appear to have been taken or tampered with.
You pick up the broken pieces of the Djinn’s Lamp. Instantly, you make note of one remarkable fact concerning the lamp – it’s clearly a fake. Not a speck of magic exists within the lamp. Perhaps it was only meant to be a replica, but in that case, where’s the real one? As you inspect the spout of the fake lamp, something falls out:
It looks like a tap handle for a bar. The engraving is worn, but appears to read “Library of Lemuria Lager”. It appears to be quite old.
What’s this doing here anyway? Why was someone after the Djinn’s Lamp? What sort of evil wishes must one want granted for them to resort to murder?
You can detect a great deal of magic emanating from the display cases, so some of these items must be the real deal.
In one of the glass cases, a floating orb begins to glow with a pale green light. You recognize it as a necromancer’s orb, imbued with the power to sap one’s very lifeforce were they to get too close. Knowing this, you keep a safe distance.
Though you are enticed at all the mesmerizing and wonderful enchanted items locked away here, there is a much more pressing issue at hand that needs to be solved before you can allow your mind to wander too far.
