PAINTING
As you approach the painting, you find it to be a portrait of none other than Seraphina Moonshadow, a renowned witch of the past. A few feet away and separate from the portrait is a small plaque.
You take a closer look at the painting. A master of the dark arts, Seraphina was misunderstood in her time, and only posthumously honored for her role in defeating the dark witch, Lysandra Bloodthorne. A former student of House Bellator, the portrait depicts her standing tall and regal, her long, silver hair flowing gracefully, and her dark eyes twinkling with hidden knowledge.
Suddenly, the painting’s eyes dart towards you, and the corners of Seraphina’s mouth slowly start to curl upwards into a somewhat sinister smile.
“Hello young one. Is that a look of fear in your eyes?”
Her voice is chilling, yet full of confidence. It sends a slight shiver down your spine.
“Now is not the time to cower, student of Medela, even with the darkest of magical arts at play. Now is the time to do what must be done. Am I worried about an attack on the wizarding world? No. If your house, House Medela, is any indication of the caliber of students present in Lumenspire, I fully believe the academy is capable of mounting a successful defense. Though not my cup of tea, I understand the value of healing magic. Just earlier today I witnessed a Medela student repair a broken vase. Helpful in the overall scheme of things? Of course not. Yet, that dedication to the preservation of Lumenspire is a form of passion proven to be requisite to accomplishing great deeds. In fact, I believe that student was even rewarded four house points for their endeavor!”
Separate from the painting is a plaque containing a quote from Tiberius Warhorn, the founder of House Bellator:
“With stinger unbowed, second to none in strength.”
-Tiberius Warhorn
Tiberius was no doubt headstrong in his commitment to power, but truly great witches and wizards understand that there’s more to magic than raw strength.
