LOST & FOUND CHEST
You come upon a sturdy and weathered chest with the words “LOST + FOUND” painted on the front. It’s filled with various items that have been left behind by travelers who have stayed at the inn, as well as by patrons of the tavern who have had a few too many tankards of Auberon’s finest.
Inside, you notice a variety of items:
You examine the helmet and notice the deep scratches and dents on its surface, telling a story of battles long past. The helmet is made of a sturdy metal, likely steel, and has a visor that can be lifted up to reveal the wearer’s face. It seems like a reliable piece of armor, even if it has been discarded and forgotten in the lost and found chest.
Your eyes are drawn to a glimmering necklace tucked away in the corner. It has a delicate chain made of silver and a pendant adorned with a bright blue gemstone. It seems to have a faint magical aura, although you have no idea what sort of magic it could be.
The cloak is made of thick wool and dyed a deep shade of forest green. It looks large enough to wrap around yourself entirely, covering you from the shoulders down to your feet – as if made for someone much larger than you, perhaps a half-giant or a similarly sized creature. The edges of the cloak are frayed and worn from use, and there are several patches sewn onto it in different places.
Your eyes catch a glimpse of a worn and battered waterskin lying amongst the other lost items. Despite its rugged appearance, the waterskin still looks functional, and you can tell it’s seen plenty of use. As you pick it up, you notice that the waterskin’s surface is slightly sticky to the touch, and you can hear something sloshing around inside. You manage to uncap the waterskin and, feeling thirsty, you give it a swig. Bleh! Take 5 points of temporary constitution damage!
You spot a rolled-up map lying amidst the clutter of the chest. As you unroll it, the crinkling sound of the parchment echoes in the room. The map is well-worn, with faded ink and creases from being folded over and over. Displayed are various landmarks and routes in the surrounding region. The map is full of notes and scribbles, likely made by the original owner, indicating various points of interest or warnings.
You pick up a worn and battered gauntlet. The metal is scratched and dented, and the leather straps are frayed and torn in places. It feels heavy in your hand, and you marvel at the intricate metalwork adorning the surface. Slipping it on, you feel a sense of power surge through you. It’s clear that this is no ordinary gauntlet. You reluctantly return the gauntlet to the chest, hoping to inquire about it later on.
