You approach the grand tapestry spread out upon the wall depicting a group of heroes engaged in a fierce battle with a black dragon. The hanging fabric itself is massive, spanning a large portion of the wall and drawing you in with its fine craftsmanship. You know the tapestry itself to be magical, but you also sense a second layer of magic that seems to be coming from behind the tapestry.Standing nearby with her attention trained on the tapestry is Charity, the Infernal sorceress.
The Infernal sorceress is looking less than approachable, glaring at the beautiful tapestry with an almost tangible disdain. She doesn’t even spare you a glance as you get close.
“I was supposed to have been there with them, battling against Nymmut that day. Before Auberon and I… went our separate paths, we had spoken of one day taking on a challenge such as this. We were supposed to face things like this together. And now… The fool!”
You’re forced to hop back as flashes of static crackle from her clenched fists. The energy stops just before reaching the tapestry. She sighs, flexing fingers that still shimmer with waves of magic.
“Well, now, both he and the little alchemist are gone and you and yours are striding around trying to solve things. And for what? Are you hiding some spell that will fix everything? So be it. I will be frank, there are two obvious suspects, and I would be surprised if even you had not noticed it. The tiresome bard, for one, has yet to stop complaining about Auberon owing him money. And at a time like this! Most elves would not give two thoughts to money or debts, but I have met more than one person out of far-away Lumendell like the bard, and they all share his same base preoccupation.
While we are discussing base natures, we must also touch on Thogg, yes? Oh, do not misjudge me, it is not due to his bloodline per say, but a genetic quirk that one has to wonder about. The large brawler cannot see the full color spectrum, did you know? Do you think, after all these years, the death of his beloved brother weighing on him, the brute finally snapped and saw red?
