Several magical artifacts are in display cases beneath a sign that states, “The Mysteries of the Arcane: A Collection of Rare and Powerful Artifacts”. One of the display cases has been smashed open. Did someone do this in the midst of the darkness spell earlier?
The case has been smashed open, and shattered glass lies scattered around. Inside, the Djinn’s Lamp lies broken on a small pedestal.
A plaque beneath it reads, “DJINN’S LAMP – Contains within it the power to grant three wishes.” No other artifacts appear to have been taken or tampered with.
You pick up the broken pieces of the Djinn’s Lamp. It’s so much lighter than you expected. Could it be a fake? Actually, you’ve seen tricks like this pulled before! Would Auberon knowingly display a forgery? As you inspect the potentially fake “Djinn’s Lamp”, something falls out:
It looks like a tap handle for a bar. The engraving is worn, but appears to read “Library of Lemuria Lager”. It appears to be quite old.
What’s this doing here anyway? You can only imagine what someone would have wanted with the Djinn’s Lamp, but where is Auberon keeping the real deal? It seems every answer leads to more questions…
You decide to take a closer look at the other artifacts on display.
You tap on one of the glass cases, and inside a floating orb begins to glow with a pale green light. There’s something about the glow that looks… off. It’s a relief when the sickly light fades. As you continue to survey the cases on and against the wall, you start to realize how many of these items seem to be magical or enchanted. Memories of warnings about ‘look, don’t touch’ fade even further as your mental tally of the loot before you begins to tick away. Weapons, armor, jewelry, and a myriad of unidentified baubles… You shake yourself back to the present. There’s two murders to investigate, after all. There will be time to consider a souvenir later.
