WALL OF ARTIFACTS

Several magical artifacts are in display cases beneath a sign that states, “The Mysteries of the Arcane: A Collection of Rare and Powerful Artifacts”. One of the display cases has been smashed open. Did this happen during the darkness spell earlier?

The case has been smashed open, and shattered glass lies scattered around. Inside, the Djinn’s Lamp lies broken on a small pedestal.

A plaque beneath it reads, “DJINN’S LAMP – Contains within it the power to grant three wishes.” No other artifacts appear to have been taken or tampered with.

You pick up the broken pieces of the Djinn’s Lamp. For something that you thought would have a decent amount of weight to it, the two pieces are surprisingly light. Something is off. It seems someone’s made up a clay fake of the lamp! Did Auberon know? Had he been fooled by a forgery, or was he being smart by only displaying a replica? As you inspect the potentially fake “Djinn’s Lamp”, something falls out:

It looks like a tap handle for a bar. The engraving is worn, but appears to read “Library of Lemuria Lager”. It appears to be quite old.

What’s this doing here anyway? It seems someone wanted the Djinn’s Lamp, so where is Auberon keeping the real one? More questions to add to the list…

You decide to take a closer look at the other artifacts on display.

You tap on one of the glass cases, and inside a floating orb begins to glow with a pale green light. It reminds you of the boglands and the treacherous glow of a will-o’-the-wisp. Slowly, the pale green light fades.

As you continue to survey the wall, you notice other artifacts whose purpose you can’t quite identify. Some of them appear to be weapons, while others resemble trinkets or jewelry. Some in your field disdain the use of magic, calling it underhanded and unsportsmanlike. Others point out that without the assistance of magic, some creatures would be forever untamable or undefeatable. It seems obvious from this collection where Auberon’s opinion lay.
