BOOKCASE

An age-stained sheet half-covers the large bookcase before you. You peek underneath it at the books that are visible, and frown. You recognize most of these titles. For anyone who has ever studied the history of witchcraft, many of these books are considered classics of the practice, if a bit outdated. Others… Others on the shelf have been dismissed as “untouchable” by the average practitioner. They’re books that shops wouldn’t stock, that no one would admit to having. You shudder, and replace the sheet, but as you turn away it feels as if there are eyes on your back.
